High School to Trades helps a student compare a union apprenticeship with a trade school. Apprenticeships pay you while you train. Trade schools charge tuition.

The site covers the Philadelphia area: union apprenticeships and trade schools a student can reach from Philadelphia, including a program in Lancaster, outside the city. Each page uses the figures checked for those programs.

Each figure has a source you can open. We re-check every source at least weekly, and upcoming deadlines daily. A failed check keeps the last figure and says it may be out of date. We do not invent a number when a source does not publish one.

Methodology: each figure links to the public page it came from and the day we last checked it. When a source does not state its own date, we say so. We do not turn an hourly rate into a yearly total, and we do not add a fee and tuition into one cost. A count of how many figures are published is a count, not a rating.
